Construction in Flood Zones

11/26/2010

I looked at a house today that has a serious flood insurance issue. The garage was converted into a very nice room with ceramic tile, paneling, crown molding, just beautiful. Since the floor is below the base flood elevation, the flood insurance policy increased over 400%! This is not an isolated case. I see this same situation repeatedly. Please, please, contact your flood insurance provider before beginning any construction or renovation project in a flood zone. Discuss the improvements you are planning and find out the impact they will have on you policy.

Construction work in a flood zones is very difficult and insurance for these places is so important But i think in these eras when we make a building or home then we definitely take a surveyors of land and again for building after some time. Its good for your home or any other.surveyors in Stoke

We have many clients who experienced the same. Flood insurance does cost very high on high risk areas but when a catastrophe strikes, you will surely be glad that you had your house insured. Just make sure that you choose a reliable insurance company though. check with you local government regarding their policies and their accredited institutions.

I have the pretty much the same situation down here in south Florida. I have a lot of client that have bought foreclose houses with illegal additions. Now the city, is going after the new owners to legalize the additions and most are below BFE. They end up demolition the additions, not such a good business for the new owners.
